[Media Coverage] Featured on the front page of the Asahi Shimbun evening edition (national).
We are pleased to announce that Ay’s initiatives were featured in the evening edition of the Asahi Shimbun (nationwide) on April 21, 2026.
The article, themed “Trends of 100 Years Ago, Spun Through Digital Technology,” introduces our work in archiving Isezaki Meisen designs and our textile development using digital technology.
Furthermore, it was a great honor to have this article featured on the front page of the evening edition.

Connecting designs from 100 years ago to the future
At Ay, we digitize the patterns of "Isezaki Meisen," a traditional textile no longer in production, and use modern technology to reconstruct them into new textiles.
We re-edit the bold colors and playful designs that once colored people’s daily lives to suit modern lifestyles,
proposing them as a "culture you want to wear now."
Fusing technology with traditional craftsmanship
The article also covered our silk scarf development using Epson's digital printing technology.
It highlights our challenge of not only "preserving" traditional crafts,
but also transforming them into new value through technology
to connect them to the next generation.
A great response
Following the publication, we received a great response from many people, including:
-
Support purchases via the crowdfunding platform "Makuake"
-
Visits to the Epson Akasaka Showroom
We received very warm responses from all over the country.
We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who learned about Ay through the article, and to everyone who visited us in person.
Closing
We sincerely thank the editorial staff and everyone involved at the Asahi Shimbun for this invaluable opportunity.
Ay will continue to take on the challenge of craftsmanship that connects Japanese culture to the future.
