Silk scarf "Samoan Blue"

Sale price¥35,300

Wearing 100 years of history. 10 types of Japanese silk scarves, reviving "Isesaki Meisen" with modern technology

We have archived the designs of "Isesaki Meisen," a silk textile from Gunma Prefecture born approximately 100 years ago, and reimagined them as scarves to naturally fit into your daily life.

For Isesaki Meisen and other kimono fabrics, the bolt width is only about 36cm. To create clothing within this limited width, we always had to face constraints such as design limitations and fabric shortages.

However, by leveraging archived design data, we have transcended these physical limitations, allowing these designs to be reborn as large-format scarves.

A piece that looks stunning, no matter how you tie it.

Scarves change their appearance depending on whether they are laid flat or worn. That is why we redesigned the layout of the patterns so that the composition looks beautiful the moment you tie it around your neck.

Through repeated prototyping and verification, we adjusted the border width, color intensity, and pattern size to the millimeter. It is a piece that feels complete the moment you wear it.

・With jackets, knits, or shirts
・On bags
・As a top
There are many ways to use them, expanding the range of your style.

Light, supple, and effortless: Silk jacquard weaving

For the fabric, we use 100% silk jacquard woven by "Ogura Orimono," a company in Ishikawa Prefecture with a 130-year history. They are one of the few precious weaving mills in Japan that specialize in wide-width silk jacquard.

・Lightweight
・Supple and easy to tie
・Cool on hot days, warm on cold days
Harnessing the natural properties of silk, we have finished this as an all-season piece.

Samoan Collection

Patterns ⑦ through ⑩ are four special designs created in collaboration with the popular Gunma-based influencer "Samoan Sugai," who has over 340,000 total followers. This project was realized after we bonded over the shared desire to "bring the joy and charm of Meisen to even more people."

⑦ Samoan Blue

A seemingly pop and unique design with an impressive, bold pot pattern. However, when wrapped around the neck, the color balance evens out, shifting to a more sophisticated atmosphere.

Printed using Epson's inkjet technology

Archiving the designs of silk textiles that have gone out of production and reviving them for the modern day through digital technology—this is a joint project between Ay and EPSON.

We have faithfully reproduced the playful colors, designs, and delicate kasuri (ikat) expressions of Isesaki Meisen on silk material. Thanks to high-precision inkjet technology, even subtle gradations and the texture of the lines are beautifully expressed.

Monna Lisa by EPSON
The fabric for this collection is printed using EPSON's sustainable textile printer, "Monna Lisa."

・Reduces water usage by up to 96%
・On-demand production that requires no printing plates
・Environmentally friendly process with reduced chemical use

We are realizing manufacturing that is kind to both the environment and the makers.

Careful Japanese sewing

We use a highly delicate sewing technique called a 2mm rolled hem, performed at a factory in Japan. By finishing the edges thinly and beautifully, it brings a sophisticated impression to the entire scarf.

・Size: Approx. 90cm+ length x 90cm+ width (varies by fabric bolt)
・Material: 100% Silk
・Country of Origin: Japan

Because we use rare, limited-quantity fabrics, the fabric patterns for general sales will change depending on the production lot. Please enjoy the unique, once-in-a-lifetime encounter with these pieces.
