抹茶と日本舞踊の午後。文化に包まれるお茶会体験
MATCHA

matcha and Japanese dance.

The other day, I attended a "Tea and Japanese Dance Appreciation Gathering" held at a mansion with a Japanese garden.

A tatami room where soft sunlight filters in. The shadows of the shoji screens gently sway. There, the scent of matcha and the movements of the dance overlap, creating a moment where time seems to slowly unwind.

On this day, I participated wearing Ay's jacquard dress.
This piece, a modern reinterpretation of Meisen, naturally blends into formal settings while also highlighting your individuality.
It became a time to feel the meaning of "wearing culture" on the skin.

🍵 What is a tea party?

A tea gathering is a traditional Japanese cultural experience where you enjoy matcha tea while appreciating seasonal decorations, utensils, Japanese sweets, and conversations with guests.

At the tea ceremony on this day, we first relaxed our bodies with a warm tea called kosen, then enjoyed a main sweet (wagashi), and finally savored a carefully prepared bowl of matcha.

Each movement of the host has a meaning, and simply watching them is like a quiet "appreciation." It is truly a culture to be savored with all five senses.

💃 What is Japanese traditional dance?

Japanese traditional dance is a performing art that has continued since the Edo period, expressing stories and seasonal landscapes through the body while using tools such as fans and cloth.

On this day's program, dances themed around the changing seasons and the blessings of nature were performed.
The dancer's every move is beautiful, and the way they glide across the tatami mats is like a person from a picture scroll.

Because it is an expression that values "space" and "quietness" just like tea, the whole venue felt as if it was united in sharing the atmosphere, creating a mysterious sensation.

What I felt as Ay

Through Isezaki Meisen, we have proposed "wearing culture," but what I felt anew on this day is that experiencing culture is also quietly facing one's inner self.

And it's not something only special people have; with just a little courage to "knock on the door," anyone can enjoy it.

At Ay, we will continue to promote a lifestyle proposal combining "Meisen × Matcha."
Wear, brew, savor, feel.
Why not incorporate culture into your daily life and enjoy some time together to calm your mind?
