Wearing 100 years of history. "Isesaki Meisen" reborn through modern technology: 10 types of Japanese-made silk scarves

We have archived the designs of "Isesaki Meisen," a silk textile from Gunma Prefecture born about 100 years ago, and re-edited them into scarves that blend naturally into your daily life.

Like many Japanese textiles, Isesaki Meisen kimono fabric is only about 36cm wide.
Creating garments within this limited width has always required facing constraints, such as ingenuity in pattern design and a shortage of fabric.

However, by utilizing archived design data, we have overcome these physical limitations to create a new, large-format scarf.

A piece that looks beautiful, however you tie it.

Scarves change their expression depending on whether they are laid flat or wrapped. That is why we re-designed the layout of the patterns so that the composition looks beautiful the moment you tie it around your neck.

Through repeated prototyping and verification, we adjusted the border width, color intensity, and pattern size down to the millimeter.
This is a piece that becomes complete the moment you wear it.

・With jackets, knits, or shirts
・On a bag
・As a top
There are many ways to use it, broadening the range of your style.

Light, supple, and effortless silk jacquard

The fabric used is a 100% silk jacquard from "Ogura Textile," which has been operating for 130 years in Ishikawa Prefecture. They are one of the few precious weavers in Japan specializing in wide-width silk jacquard.

・Lightweight
・Supple and easy to knot
・Cool on hot days, warm on cold days
By leveraging the natural properties of silk, we have created a piece that can be worn all season long.

Samoan Collection

Numbers ⑦ through ⑩ are four special patterns born from a collaboration with "Samoan Sugai," a highly popular influencer living in Gunma Prefecture with over 340,000 total followers.
We hit it off based on a shared desire to "deliver the joy and appeal of Meisen to more people," which brought this project to life.

⑥ Violet

A gorgeous and powerful piece where purple and pink overlap vividly.
By combining two different designs, we created a composition with great depth.

Printed with EPSON inkjet technology

Archiving designs of silk textiles no longer in production,
and bringing them back to the modern day through the power of digital technology—
this is a joint project between Ay and EPSON.

The playful colors and designs of Isesaki Meisen,
along with the delicate Kasuri expressions, are faithfully reproduced on silk material.
Thanks to high-precision inkjet technology,
everything from subtle gradations to the nuance of the lines is beautifully expressed.

Monna Lisa by EPSON
The fabric for this collection is printed using EPSON's sustainable textile printer, "Monna Lisa."

・Reduces water consumption by up to 96%
・On-demand production requiring no printing plates
・Environmentally friendly process with reduced chemical usage

We have achieved manufacturing that is gentle on both the environment and the craftspeople.

Careful Japanese sewing

At a factory in Japan, we employ an extremely delicate sewing technique known as a 2mm narrow hem.
By finishing the edges thinly and beautifully, it brings a sophisticated impression to the entire scarf.

・Size: Approx. 90cm x 90cm (varies depending on the fabric roll)
・Material: 100% Silk
・Country of Origin: Japan

Because we use rare fabric with limited production quantities, the textile patterns for general retail may vary by production lot. Please enjoy these once-in-a-lifetime encounters.
